“Gambling with policy” Briefing paper

A ban on gaming machines in Australia’s clubs and pubs would cost 74,000 jobs and the economy would be 0.6 per cent or $6.6 billion smaller, according to the “Gambling with policy” Briefing paper completed by the Centre for International Economics in November 2008.

World Count of Gaming Machines 2008

Australia has 2.4% of the world’s gaming machines, according to a survey completed in April 2008 by Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS).
